PEACEFUL BAJA INN STILL NEAR NIGHTLIFE
In Baja California, we discovered a wonderful bed and breakfast in Todos Santos, near the tip of southern Baja.
Posada La Poza, on the beach beside a freshwater lagoon just outside Todos Santos, is the most peaceful and tranquil place we have found in years of traveling. The grounds include a beautiful pool, a garden of native and introduced plants and a bird sanctuary with more than 80 species. The seven rooms range from $125 to $480 per night. Two rooms have outdoor whirlpool baths; the "honeymoon suite" has one in the room. The dining room overlooks the garden and lagoon toward the beach.
The quaint town of Todos Santos is well-known as an artists' colony. The rowdy nightlife of Cabo San Lucas isn't far away, and the area is famous for its fishing and golfing. However, we didn't want to leave the beauty and tranquility of La Poza.
The Swiss proprietors, Juerg and Libusche Wiesendanger, are fun and friendly hosts. Libusche is an artist known throughout Europe, and her paintings and sculptures are exhibited (and for sale) throughout the grounds.
